group training classes

All of our dog training classes use modern, positive based training methods. We offer a range of classes for various age ranges, experience levels and future ambitions; so you can start out with Nutter Puppies and either progress into or join (with an older dog) our Bronze Teamwork Award classes. From there you can join our Dog Club to face weekly challenges designed to build on and test your skills.

After completing our training classes we have so many progression options available, from joining the fast lane with our agility classes, building creativity and confidence with our trick training sessions, or even teaching your dog to use their nose to track down a ‘missing person’ in mantrailing.

Our introductory group training classes primarily take place indoors, providing a stable and familiar environment each time.

nutter puppies

Nutter Puppies is aimed at puppies aged up to 20 weeks. It covers everything you need to raise a confident puppy who loves to work with you, and thinks you’re just so much fun to hang out with!

bronze teamwork award

Our Bronze Teamwork Award classes are open to dogs who have successfully completed puppy training classes (whether with us or another trainer) or older dogs looking to work on their basic training skills. Our classes focus on giving dogs the opportunity, skills and knowledge they need to make good choices in life, so that making these good choices comes naturally!

dog club

Our Dog Club classes are a weekly opportunity to face weekly training challenges, tailored to the specific needs of everyone in the group. This is a progression from our Bronze Teamwork Award class (or a similar level class from another provider), but unlike traditional progression classes, there is no set criteria. This gives us total flexibility in teaching, to maximise the benefit to both you and your dog!

eligibility

Group training classes are a great way to increase your own training skills and your dog’s ability to work with you in different environments – but they are not suitable for all dogs.

To attend any of our group classes, your dog must:

  • Be able to concentrate in a group environment, around other dogs and people. We aren’t expecting perfect focus – but they must be comfortable and not relentlessly barking at other participants!
  • Be able to take food from you in a group environment, around other dogs and people
  • Be able to play with you in a group environment, around other dogs and people
  • Be able to walk on a collar and/or harness (pulling is fine!) without panicking, shutting down or trying to escape
  • Be able to drink and toilet outside of the home
  • Be physically and medically sound; with any pre-existing conditions being treated appropriately

Our group classes are not typically suitable for dogs who are reactive, anxious or aggressive towards other dogs and people in their vicinity. Dogs who bark frequently at other dogs or people aren’t ready for group classes. Our priority is always the safety, wellbeing and learning experience for all participants. Dogs who are not yet ready for group classes will not be permitted to continue; other options may be offered where appropriate, but please note that we do not offer refunds for dogs who are unsuitable for classes.

If you’d like to join the Nutter Dogs family but your dog isn’t quite ready for group classes yet, please consider private training – or drop us a message to see what would be best for you and your dog.
